We require writers who are driven to succeed, have a way with words, and keep up with what's trending in the world of pop culture. We're looking for original, informative, and eye-catching articles.
As a Music News & Features Writer, you will be writing articles that provide more in-depth analysis on the music industry and current trends, as well as writing timely news stories about the latest developments in pop music. Collider is looking for someone with expertise on Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, Indie, Electronic, and more. Candidates should be able to cover anything and everything ranging from the significance of Grammy snubs, Taylor Swift’s surprise songs on tour, the long-storied beef between Kendrick Lamar & Drake, Chappel Roan’s latest crashout (or amazing live performance), Rick Rubin’s unique production technique, Creed's well-received reunion tour, comparisons between the lineups of Coachella and Bonnaroo, and the significance of The Linda Lindas’ surge in popularity. Responsibilities:
Write articles in Collider's house style:
- This will include fact-checking, formatting, linking, and image sourcing/very basic editing (sizing, brightness, etc.)
- Work under tight deadlines and submit tasks on time.
- Balance articles between timely news coverage with thoughtful, researched features.
- Able to maintain a contracted freelance schedule.
- Work with various Editors and implement feedback efficiently.
- Adherence to a style guide.
Applicants must be highly motivated and possess the following requirements:
Relevant experience in writing.
Broad knowledge of the music industry, culture, trends, and subjects mentioned above.
A solid grasp of the English language and the ability to communicate niche ideas to a wide audience.
Experience with CMS (e.g. Emaki, WordPress) is an asset.

A college degree in journalism/communications and experience writing professionally is encouraged, but not required.
